Creation of Man

This painting depicts the common number that was the order of life (isithathu esithathwini/the third of the thirds). The father, mother and a child believed to be on the center of every source of Creation of a human being, and this is a symbol of unity from physical and spiritual world. “Let us create a man in our own image". The soil, water, and the spirit create a man. This painting displays a quarrel and instability of the union between Mother, Father and children as a sign of a bad omen (ububi/Ubuntu bumbi) that breaks and cripples the creation. This expressional, figurative painting shows our time of normalized segregation and chaos in the circle of creation (isangqa sendalo). Horns and weapons are handed to certain individuals to protect and fight against one another which is the main cause of destruction.

This painting is about the records of the names of those who lived before us, those names are very important on our present generation. When mother and father get married, the combination of two clans meet, two entities with variables meet, and they become related as children of one person which is called ukuzalana/ukwelamana. The use of shapes and layering of colours represent the background of a man from history to the future.
